Well, the daily downpours we’ve been having just about every day in South Louisiana haven’t let up yet. I imagine my builder has probably lost a couple of days due to rain. We’re still waiting for some dry weather to finish the roof so we can start on the interior and before we can start the brick-work and trim on the outside of our new construction in Houma, LA.
Everyone is getting a little frustrated waiting on the weather to clear, but there’s nothing we can do. Patience is in big demand when you’re building your own home.
In this post, I wanted to show you some more about the framing stage of the home. In this video you’ll learn more about the components of a typical framing wall, including flashing, beams over open areas, window and door headers, and rafters and ceiling joist.
And, I’ll show you more about building to meet the high-wind code here in south Louisiana. We’ll also cover a little about how the walls are attached to the slab and the reason they use plywood clips for the roof decking.
